November/December 2024 |
|
Well, didn’t 2024 go by in a flash? I can hardly believe we’re here at the end of the year talking about Christmas and New Year! Huge congrats to all of you tying the knot this season. I can’t wait to see the photos of your cosy, romantic big days. And for those of you currently considering a winter wedding date, don’t miss our winter wonderland venues feature from page 20, rounding up the cosiest local hotspots, a dream for the season.
I paid a visit to Cottons Hotel & Spa recently and with the myriad of welcoming spaces here, this is definitely a candidate for a wonderful winter warmer. Turn to page 19 where I share more of my experiences from my stay in Knutsford.
This issue our thoughts have turned to wedding catering. Unsurprisingly really considering we here at CWM HQ rarely stop thinking about our stomachs! After all, isn’t it the way to most peoples hearts?! Keeping your loved ones well fed and watered from lunch to supper is a sure way to ensure they enjoy your big-day to the max. So, we’ve put together a guide to our favourite foodie wedding treats.
Finally, with more and more couples looking to personalise their weddings to the max, we talked to the county’s experts to get their suggestions for making your big day uniquely you. Check out Hot Topic from page 56.
As well as wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year, I’ll sign off 2024 by saying: Enjoy, and keeeep planning! See you in 2025!

Spotlight on... North Wales |
|
Marchwell Hall
Nestled in the North Wales countryside bordering Cheshire, the magnificent Marchwiel Hall is surrounded by private woodland, manicured gardens and its own cricket ground. The new venue is an opulent and historical family home, with a team dedicated to delivering special events.
Marchwiel Hall stands as a testament to Georgian elegance, nestled on a 165-acre estate that includes a tranquil three-acre lake. The estate’s landscaped gardens, stables, and two picturesque gamekeepers’ cottages, along with a charming walled garden provide an idyllic backdrop for your big day.
The white exterior is adorned with classical architectural elements, including columns supporting a pediment above the central entrance. Large windows with decorative moldings add elegance to the facade, while chimneys and rooftop balustrades contribute to its stately appearance, thus exuding a timeless charm and sophistication.
The venue boasts the stunning Ballroom, which can seat up to 80 guests for dinner and up to 120 evening guests. As a ceremony space capacity is 100 loved ones.
The equally beautiful Morning Room is an ideal choice for a more intimate ceremony and can seat up to 50 nearest and dearest. For a larger wedding, this flexible space can be turned into the bar area. A further option is the Dining Room, which can seat 22 dining guests.
The estate’s landscaped grounds, with the lush countryside beyond, offer the option of a marquee for up to 200 guests, depending on design. Also within the pretty grounds, is a lovely terrace and sun bar, ideal options for your drinks reception.
The estate also boasts two newly refurbished braising gamekeepers cottages. These offer three bedrooms with open plan kitchen/dining areas, separate comfortable lounges, large gardens and patio areas – ideal for wedding parties. Accommodation within the Hall itself is set to open in 2025.

Via Velluto by Fabbrica Della Musa is a honeymoon hit |
|
If you're looking for a new luxury scent for your honeymoon, my perfume pick this issue is the fruity and fun Via Velluto by Fabbrica Della Musa (£195, 100ml). Mouth-wateringly fresh, this sophisticated scent blends notes from the Mediterranean and Asia and is the perfect fragrance for a warm destination trip. Created by renowned perfumer Hamid Merati-Kashani, it opens with a mix of raspberry notes underpinned by a sensual balsamic woody incense throughout. The heart is floral with jasmine and peony, and finishes with leather, sandalwood and caramel, which together form a scent that lifts the spirits and makes you feel on top of the world.
