November/December 2024 |
|
Well, didn’t 2024 go by in a flash? I can hardly believe we’re here at the end of the year talking about Christmas and New Year! Huge congrats to all of you tying the knot this season. I can’t wait to see the photos of your cosy, romantic big days. And for those of you currently considering a winter wedding date, don’t miss our winter wonderland venues feature from page 20, rounding up the cosiest local hotspots, a dream for the season.
I paid a visit to Cottons Hotel & Spa recently and with the myriad of welcoming spaces here, this is definitely a candidate for a wonderful winter warmer. Turn to page 19 where I share more of my experiences from my stay in Knutsford.
This issue our thoughts have turned to wedding catering. Unsurprisingly really considering we here at CWM HQ rarely stop thinking about our stomachs! After all, isn’t it the way to most peoples hearts?! Keeping your loved ones well fed and watered from lunch to supper is a sure way to ensure they enjoy your big-day to the max. So, we’ve put together a guide to our favourite foodie wedding treats.
Finally, with more and more couples looking to personalise their weddings to the max, we talked to the county’s experts to get their suggestions for making your big day uniquely you. Check out Hot Topic from page 56.
As well as wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year, I’ll sign off 2024 by saying: Enjoy, and keeeep planning! See you in 2025!

The Drawing Room offers a more intimate space for gathering 50 nearest and dearest. With sweeping views of the estate, this sunny room looks sublime set up for a ceremony or a romantic wedding breakfast.
What’s more, there are a wealth of opportunities for al fresco ceremonies here with a choice of the Garden Folly, the picture-perfect Jetty for lakeside vows and the Summer House. Meanwhile, the south facing Terrace offers 100 acres of countryside, a serene lake and ancient woodlands as your backdrop.
The Lounge Bar in the heart of the Manor offers a delightful haven for various points throughout your day. Whether it’s pre-drinks for the groomsmen, a night-before gathering or a post-ceremony treat when the weather’s not cooperating. It’s the epitome of style and relaxation.
With its elegant décor, sophisticated lighting and spacious layout, the evening reception area here sets the stage for a night filled with unforgettable moments. Whether you dream of a glamorous affair or a contemporary chic setting, this versatile space can be transformed to reflect your style and vision.

A new look for The Queen at Chester |
|
The Queen at Chester has completed a major refurbishment, fit for royalty, with upgrades to 104 bedrooms and public spaces including meeting rooms and new central bar. Guests will find a sleek and homely new look at the magnificent brick and stucco Italianate building, said to be the first skyscraper of its time. Since opening in 1860 the hotel has had an illustrious past having hosted the likes of Charles Dickens, Cecil Rhodes and Lily Langtry. The new design has been carefully conceived to honour the heritage and history of the building, with classic patterned wooden floors, panelled walls and plush fabrics, while adding a fresh, modern finish and amenities including air conditioning.
