Here, Nathalie Somerset from Somerset Blooms, based in Liverpool shares her ideas for repurposing your wedding flowers...

"Those who know me know I love getting as much for my investment as I can. I guess this stems from the days when I didn't have much so I made the most of everything I had. This hasn't left me... and even now, as I am writing this, I am wearing a top I've had for years and it's one of my faves! I'll never part with it!

"Clothing, everyday items... it's all the same, so why stop there? Why not make the most of your wedding flowers and make them work from the start to the end of your special day. Flowers are one of the biggest investments for a wedding so it would be rude not to show them off as much as possible right!?

"Re-purposing your wedding flowers ensures that the backdrop and decor is consistent from the day through to the night. If you have a venue with not-so-nice decor then the flowers can be a nice distraction from that and let's face it, we've all been to a venue at some point that's still trapped in the thanks to its wallpaper and carpet!

"So, re-purposing flowers has its positives, it can also have negatives but I can only name two; if guests have allergies then maybe ease off on the flowers and hire decor items such as candles and candelabras. And two, if the flowers are over-handled during the ceremony or drinks reception, then they're spoilt for the evening. Providing your guests don't man-handle the ceremony flowers though and there are no bad allergies then re-purpose away. I did a wedding last October where the bride had small-footed bowls down the sides of the aisle for her ceremony then transported them to the wedding breakfast tables as centrepieces. A couple last summer used their bridesmaid bouquets as drinks table decor, we supplied empty vases and while the family were having their photos taken, the bride put the bouquets in the vases and voila the drinks reception tables were full of blooms at no extra cost!

"It's amazing how much you can do with a few designs, but if you want more inspiration, message me via my wedding enquiry form, and we can put together a plan for your wedding flowers."
