The award-winning Penmaenuchaf in Dolgellau, Gwynedd, has announced the much anticipated second phase of its exciting two-part refurbishment project, set for completion by March 2025. Following completion of phase one in June 2023, which unveiled four beautifully designed suites on the top floor, as well as new kitchens, phase two will introduce five additional suites, crafted with the same attention to detail, along with a new lobby bar area.
Penmaenuchaf is an ancient, stone-fronted property situated at the foot of the rugged Cadair Idris and overlooking the Mawddach estuary, offering a charming mountain retreat in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. The design for Penmaenuchaf is the true definition of 'hiraeth', a nostalgia for the place that one's soul feels most at home. Design will delight in Welsh mythology, incorporating playful references to local myths and legends into the design, and will draw on the history of the house to reimagine the new suites and bar.
Penmaenuchaf offers a relaxing mountain retreat. Steeped in history, it's the perfect choice for honeymooners seeking to explore the local area rich in Welsh myth and legend, and those looking for both a cultural or adventure stay. Alongside a peaceful getaway in one of 13 uniquely designed rooms and suites, guests can enjoy a relaxed dining experience of creative, modern British dishes, headed up by recently appointed Head Chef Dan Andree. Guests dining at Penmaenuchaf can expect menus bursting with flavour, which incorporate high-quality, seasonal produce, and pickings from the hotel's own kitchen garden and surrounding woodlands. Spanning 21 acres of breathtaking scenery, guests can escape the hustle and bustle of popular tourist spots and immerse themselves in the raw beauty of the surrounding nature, from towering Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) to the enchanting Swallow Falls.
Stays at Penmaenuchaf start from £230 on a bed and breakfast basis. For more information or to book, check out https://penmaenuchaf.co.uk
